Joining the Loop Still Possible!

Yesterday afternoon, we had our first Fashion Illustration class at Loop of the Loom! It was amazing and fun! We made figure collages out of magazine pages, and they turned out really nicely! (Pictures coming soon)

With love,

P.S. There's still time for last minute sign ups! *See recent post on Loop of the Loom for information.

Momo what?

Momofuku that is. It is in the East Village, with other Momofuku restaurants very near by. Such as the Momofuku Noodle Bar. Three words describe how I feel about their ramen noodles. Best. Ramen. EVER. I thought I had to make my point very clear. The noodle bar is at 171 1st Ave, and the milk bar located at 207 2nd Ave. When David Chang (owner of all the Momofukus) means milk bar, it is basically just a place with sweets and also quick bits to eat. They have amazing soft serve in a few flavors, but by far my favorite is "cereal milk". Now hold on, I thought it was strange too but it is probably the best soft serve I have ever eaten. It tastes JUST like the milk of frosted flakes. And if you were wonder what the hell momofuku means, it literally translates to "Lucky Peach" in Japanese. Just go, you have to try it yourself. I can not describe how beautiful a concept this is with my words. David Chang is a genius, and a huge gift from God. :)

Vegan Cupcakes? Yuck?

Not at all! BabyCakes NYC is a quaint cupcake shop that sells cupcakes and other baked goods that are gluten-free, wheat-free, soy-free, casein-free, egg-free, refined sugar-free, vegan, and kosher. They simply replace the regular ingredients of these fine baked delights with ingredients such as brown rice flour, spelt, canola and cold pressed virgin coconut oil, and agave nectar. Although a lot of people (who are not vegetarians/vegans) usually just remain satisfied with their usual cupcakes, these cupcakes are probably THE best vegan cupcakes I've ever had. I rarely ever enjoy eating vegan pastries and other baked goods, but these cupcakes are divine and enchanting. Even if you are not a vegetarian/vegan, you must try these cupcakes for yourself! Their flavors include, red velvet, vanilla, chocolate, banana, lemon, and lots more!

Their lovely Cookie Sandwiches ;)
Sweet dreams till sunbeams find you,
The Worm

P.S. There only location (for now) is in the East Village in NYC. Fortunately, if you do not live in NYC, BabyCakes NYC ships their baked goods throughout the US via Fed Ex overnight. All goods are baked fresh that day and are shipped out and arrive at your door the next day. :)

Come Join Us @ Loop of the Loom!

There is a BIG chance that The Bird and The Worm will be taking fashion classes at Loop of the Loom , which is basically a weaving studio that teaches people, well, how to weave and make clothes! Starting September 13, 2009 there will be 3 different types of classes available for teens ranging from ages 12-18. The 3 different types of classes includes a fashion sewing class for beginners, a fashion illustration/design class [ ;) which would be the class The Bird and The Worm possibly might be joining], and a fashion workshop. The instructor is Sarah Boom: email: ilovefashionschool87@gmail.com: phone number: 212-722-2686. There is more information about these classes and registration on the website. The address of Loop of the Loom is: 227 East 87th Street, NYC (between 2nd & 3rd Aves.)

Just some of the things they make at the studio!

Hope you all come and join the "loop!"

The Bird and The Worm @ Make NYC

After our trip to the yoga studio, we took a stroll down memory lane and revisited our childhood place....... MAKE! Make (formally known as Our Name is Mud) is a pottery studio where children and adults can choose and paint different things including mugs, bowls, plates, and a lot of other fun things! It's really a great place to spend time with friends or family members. The price of the paint and the object isn't too bad, and the best part is that you have fun doing it!

While the Bird was making a very cute, pastel colored bowl... The Worm was making a bubble concoction consisting of paint, soap, and water. Although the bubble printing was a complete fail due to the mess created :/, we had a lot of fun doing it! After you receive your receipt, you can go home with the satisfaction of being able to pick your glossy, painted object a week later!

Love,
The Bird and The Worm

The Bird and the Worm @ New York Yoga

Today, we decided to go to New York Yoga to practice our yoga skills and to relax once more before the vacation ends. Like many other yoga places in NYC, there are different classes that practice different types of yoga including Vinyasa and Bikram. However, unlike many of the other yoga places we've explored, this specific yoga studio doesn't ask for membership to relax, or "open up your heart." At this studio, you could just pop in and for the price of $23, you could experience an hour and a half of full tranquility.

If you've practiced yoga/would like to, you should really try going to this studio. Who doesn't enjoy relaxing?

Namaste,
The Bird and the Worm

P.S. There is one studio on 86th and York and a Bikram (hot yoga) studio on 85th and Lexington.

The Bird and The Worm ♥ Owl City

Owl City's newest album (Ocean Eyes) was released July 14th. And their song "Fireflies" was even featured as a free single of the week on Itunes. Owl City is mostly a one man show, but occasionally has back up from other singers. The man behind this all is Adam Young. Their first music video came out on July 20th, with the song "Fireflies". Personally, I love Owl City but it depends on what genre of music you like. His music is categorized as "electronic". So, just give it a listen.

With Lovee,
The Bird.
